I recently started a new business ecoara, an architectural design practice in Glasgow. My mission in life has always been to create great spaces. I believe we can do this more sustainably by implementing many of the solutions already available to us, and by making better choices.
Having extensive experience in the construction and energy sectors, I have witnessed firsthand the significant communication challenges that plague these industries. Despite their critical roles in infrastructure and sustainability, both sectors often struggle with clear and effective communication. My work focuses on bridging this gap, fostering better collaboration and understanding to drive progress and innovation.
What about in the design industry?
In the design industry, we may think we are great communicators, however, since our job is to help the energy and construction sector communicate plans, I’d say we are part of the problem. However, we have the potential to be massive part of solution.
To do this, we need more information. During my MSc (10 years ago!) we spent many a class puzzling over qualitative and quantitative information. Using both, ensures decisions are based on a deep understanding of the data’s implications.
Here, you’ll find posts as I continue through business set up; posts about the topics in design, construction and energy which cause confusion and most importantly, tackling those bigger topics which we need to drive forwards lasting change to improve our buildings and the energy we need to use within them in our day-to-day lives.
When I’m not blogging you can find me still unpacking from my overseas move, it’s been a year. Maybe more on that when I finish unpacking.
